Trust thyself.
"Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string," wrote Emerson in his essay called Self Reliance. This is a very empowering essay and one that deserves a few more reads before I can even really scratch the surface, but on this first reading what I came away with is a reiteration of how important I believe it is for people to trust their intuition. I think that we are taught over and over again not to listen to that part of us that percieves things correctly–naturally. Or we keep ourselves and our lives so noisy that we can’t hear it above the roar.
Every man discerns between the voluntary acts of his mind and his involuntary perceptions. And to his involuntary perceptions he knows a perfect respect is due. He may err in the expression of them, but he knows that these things are so, like day and night, not to be disputed.
Trust thyself. And if we are quiet, and if we are still, and if we trust ourselves, we will find a truth that we can readily trust. I needed this reminder. "He cannot be happy and strong until he too lives with nature in the present, above time."

Great post. Another quote I like from that essay: Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind.
Lovely. I have always been told to trust instinct, go with the gut, and believe in the inner voice. I think that existing in a state of inner peace allows us to be in tune with our instincts.I must read the essay. Thank you for the link.
