Dance

My personal quote, if you will, has been for many years a quote by Robert Fulghum:

I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge - that myth is more potent than history. I believe that dreams are more powerful than facts - that hope always triumphs over experience - that laughter is the only cure for grief. And I believe that love is stronger than death.

But I really didn’t know much about about him, so I was surprised to hear his name on NPR this morning while heading into work this morning.  He did a wonderful piece on believing in dancing that you can read or listen to here.

He says:

My goal now is to dance all the dances as long as I can, and then to sit down contented after the last elegant tango some sweet night and pass on because there wasn’t another dance left in me.

My daughter and I dance around the house all the time and some of my most precious memories are my son asking me to dance and dancing with him. So on the end of my quote, I think I should add on… And I believe in dancing!

One Response to “Dance”

  1. It really is about living life, isn’t it? Not passing on those moments or saying, “maybe later”. Instead, taking the hand or invitation that is extended to you and saying, “hell yeah, lets go”. (I secretly have always wanted to be a professional dancer, hehe.)
